Dear club members,
As you know, the COVID-19 situation is fluid. Earlier, public health officials have asked Canadians to limit gatherings in an effort to slow down the spread of the disease. Practice Social Distance – person to person contact of any kind should be stopped. Whenever possible, maintain two meters between yourself and others to avoid contamination.
As leaders in Etobicoke, we think it's important to lead by example. So, in keeping with the best advice of the experts, out of an abundance of caution and with due concern for some of our members, it was decided to postpone all in-person club events that have been scheduled until the end of April. This includes our twice a month lunch meetings, committee meetings, the 90th Anniversary Celebration, the Rethink Plastics Event and Hands on Projects.
The health of our members and safety and of their families, and our communities are our top priority and our primary concern. We had hoped that the COVID-19 situation would improve, but it appears that stronger measures are required to contain the spread of this virus.
At our 20th of April board meeting, the Board will revisit the situation locally, nationally, and globally and make a recommendation to resume meetings as per the normal schedule, or further extend it.
This has not been an easy decision, but one that we believe is a responsible one and demonstrates Rotary Etobicoke’s concern to help our community through this challenging time. As we move forward, we will continue to monitor the situation closely. Please stay tuned for updates on alternative arrangements.
In the meantime, we will keep in touch by email.
Stay safe, wash your hands, and above all remember to be kind to your fellow humans.
We are all in this together.
Iosif
