Womens Habitat
Carla Neto brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as Executive
Director at Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke. With over twenty years of experience in the
VAW sector and a Bachelor of Social Work, Carla approaches her work through an
intersectional feminist lens, integrating anti-racist/anti-oppressive, trauma-informed,
and harm reduction principles.
Prior to her tenure at Women’s Habitat, Carla managed the YWCA Toronto Women’s
Shelter and Transitional Housing and Support Program for over a decade, amassing a
rich tapestry of experience in women's support and empowerment.
Carla's journey at Women’s Habitat began as the Manager of Community Programs,
where she oversaw Counseling Services, Housing and Transitional Supports
Services, Parenting programs, Girls-focused programs, and Life Skills Drop-in
programs, significantly elevating service delivery and introducing innovative
approaches and new programming.
Carla's leadership philosophy centers on building capacity, resilience, and
sustainability for women and their dependents seeking services while aligning
strategies to combat gender-based violence. Under her guidance, the Women’s
Habitat Outreach Centre prioritized skill-building and housing readiness programs,
along with prevention-focused initiatives for boys and young men.
Her strategic and compassionate leadership, coupled with her unwavering
commitment to advancing the cause of gender-based violence prevention, makes her
a driving force behind Women’s Habitat's continued success and impact.
