In the late 80s and into the new Millennium
we reached 100 members and
during our regular luncheon meetings the
average attendance was 85%.

Toronto Ribfest
With the new millennium the Rotary Club of Etobicoke embarked on a major new fundraising event by founding and developing the Toronto Ribfest. This event is held every year on the Canada Day weekend in Centennial Park. The festival is now a main attraction in the Toronto Summer Calendar.  www.torontoribfest.com provides the most current information.

Rotary TV Auction
For several years, the Rotary TV Auction was our major fundraising event. Up to the late 90's it was under the sole jurisdiction of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke. Our Club developed new computer software to better manage merchandise, television display and sales during the event. It was always a great participation event for Rotarians. They all worked hard and had a lot of fun during the two-day auction. Later the club decided to share the event with other Rotary Clubs, in the vicinity. Toronto West, Humber, Parkdale and the Etobicoke Sunrise club joined and contributed merchandise, planning and staffing.

However, like all things and despite the heroic efforts of Angela Wong-Liao, the Rotary TV auction fell out of favour and in 2011 was no longer a project in which the club participated.

The Etobicoke Sunrise Club
In the mid 90s the Rotary Club of Etobicoke was instrumental in chartering a new club, The Etobicoke Sunrise Club. This resulted in a breakfast club that met in the Valhalla Inn. At the beginning a number of our members helped with the start-up and running of this new Rotary Club. Later it developed a character of its own and grew to about 20 members.

100 years of Rotary and the 75th Club Anniversary Celebration
In 2005 Rotary celebrated " 100 years of Rotary" in every country and club in the World. At the same time the Rotary Club of Etobicoke celebrated its 75th anniversary. A lot was accomplished since the charter of our club in the Year 1930. Our contributions over the years to the Community and International were more than $1.5 million. A large part was spent in supporting our community hospital, and the new Trillium Health Centre.

The Club celebrated this special year with a Gala Event recognizing many in our midst and providing an all around feeling of pride to members present and past to belong to the Rotary Club of Etobicoke
