November 06 2020
FOUNDATION MONTH – NOVEMBER 2020 I am writing to all of you with a special request. As indicated, November is “Foundation Month” in Rotary! When you make a donation to The Rotary Foundation, you are helping Rotary members make a positive difference in the lives of millions of people around the world, by promoting peace, preventing disease, bolstering economic development, providing clean water and sanitation, and protecting the environment. This year as we are battling the COVID 19 pandemic, the Rotary Foundation has already contributed millions of Grant dollars to help with PPE, food security and health here at home and around the globe. In our own district the Rotary Foundation has provided matching district grant monies which were directed to local COVID 19 initiatives. In our own club it provided grant money to help with the purchase of PPEs for the partner organizations that we assist in our community. Your donation to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund provides the resources to enable the Rotary Foundation to make Global and District Grants that make a positive difference everywhere. I would like to ask you to consider making a donation to our Foundations Annual Fund … and/or … to Polio Plus during the month of November to help celebrate the incredible work that has been done to date … and … to ensure we will be able to do even more in the years ahead. Everyone’s budget is different, so I will simply suggest some options:
For the month of November all donations will receive matching Paul Harris points from our Club! Please make your contribution by email transfer to: gary@interaxgrp.com. Or by cheque payable to Rotary Etobicoke Foundation Annual Fund and mail it to the mailing address above. I thank you for giving this your attention. If every Member of our Club makes a contribution that is manageable for them, I believe the Rotary Club of Etobicoke will be helping to make this year very special for Rotary and the Rotary Foundation! Yours in Rotary, |

Nov. 26, 2020 7:00 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
On Thursday, 26th of November at 7pm, five Rotary Clubs from our dictrict have organized a special online virtual evening celebrating a unique opportunity to save an important part of Ontario's heritage AND contribute to the fight against climate change. Zhelevo is a majestic Red Oak located in a residential community near the Humber River in Toronto. It is well over 250 years old and was recognized as a Heritage Tree in 2009 thanks to the incredible efforts of Edith George, its neighbour and friend. This Red Oak has witnessed history unfolding as a lookout tree overseeing the First Nations’ Carrying-Place Trail. Every year, it captures more than 2.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide and currently stores over 31 tonnes of carbon above ground. The Evening will be hosted by CTV's Colin D' Mello with special guests: Mark Cullen, Mayor John Tory (invited), Carolyn King, Edith George, Sophia Maiolo and Nilam Bedi. Come together to help save an Oak Tree that is older than Canada!

Canadian and Global Education - A Post Pandemic Reality
Jan. 27, 2021 12:18 p.m.
CTL Education was launched as an outcome of Covid-19 outbreak switching our focus on building Canadian High Schools globally (using Ontario High School Diploma) to make the same available online through our in-house built technologies and assembled teams of educators and support team. We have discovered Covid-19 has created a need to offer our High School teaching as after school support services in Canada to Canadian students beginning November 16th, 2020. We are also offering a free High School after hours support services for the children of Front-Line Workers beginning December 1st, 2020 and a Global campaign working with TVO-ILC for enrolling and educating Global students for Ontario High School Diploma and then through our facilitation to Canadian Universities and Colleges as their chosen advanced or applied education destination.
Through our non-profit organization, Educate Me Canada Programs, we are confident to be able to mobilize individuals, corporates, non-profits and public sector support to provide a solid and meaningful after hour High School support programs towards Canadian student communities either for free or a very affordable pricing. During these challenging times both emotionally and financially, we believe our contribution will be our ways to make a difference. |
